Out of town, more than an hour away, $20.00. Local, less than one hour away, $10.00.

Pathfinders Guidelines for Participants

1) Phone the trip leader by the Friday before the trip. If you must cancel, do so in plenty of time.
2) Obtain information from the leader to determine if the trip is within your capabilities.
3) Make sure your boots, clothing and equipment are appropriate for the activity.
4) Stay with the group. Make sure the leader or end-person knows where you are at all times, even if you simply step off the trail to answer “nature’s call”

CYCLISTS – REMEMBER YOUR CYCLING PROTOCOL

The BC Provincial Motor Vehicle Act says:-
1)Wear a bicycle helmet of an approved standard.
2)Ride single file on busy roads or highways.
3)Don’t ride on sidewalks unless otherwise posted.
4)Obey crosswalks.
5)Use hand signals for turns, stopping or slowing down.
6)Ride on the right unless turning left or traveling through an intersection with the traffic, where you stay to the right in the through lane.The Pathfinders also say - Please carry tools and an extra bicycle tube!



Pathfinders Drivers Guidelines - Club trips sometimes take us out in challenging conditions, or to places off the regular highways. This makes it mandatory that vehicles are properly equipped with emergency gear. In winter conditions, we recommend as a minimum.
  • a flashlight and batteries,
  • a shovel,
  • a tow rope/chain,
  • bag of sand (or some means of adding traction),
  • emergency blanket
  • first aid kit.
  • candle and matches, axe/saw, food/water
  • In summer, as a minimum. – all of the above.

MINNEKHADA PARK. Let’s start the holiday season with a walk around the park (approx. 6.5 km) followed by a visit to the lodge which will be decorated for Christmas. Please bring your lunch with you. Meet at the parking area at the end of Quarry Road at 10.00

SATURDAY DECEMBER 13TH
SOCIAL 

CHRISTMAS WREATH DECORATING AND POTLUCK SUPPER 5:00pm. Last year we made beautiful Christmas flower arrangements. This year get into the Christmas spirit while decorating a Christmas wreath with baubles and ribbons alongside your potluck companions. We can purchase your cedar covered wreath/s for you at a cost of $10 each. You provide your own decorations from your Christmas stash, alternatively lots of decorations are available at a Dollar Store or Michaels. Bring a dish to share for our potluck supper. Call Canby to reserve your spot, order your wreath/s and let her know your potluck contribution.

BLUE HERON SANCTUARY (CHILLIWACK AREA) Spend some time out the sanctuary looking at the exhibits followed by a walk through the trails and maybe out onto the Vedder river. SNOWSHOE

BLACK MOUNTAIN (NORTH SHORE) With Christmas fast approaching let’s have a shorter snow shoe on the North Shore. Most of you will have done this trip before and know that it starts out with a steep climb up to Cabin Lake where you can then make the decision as to whether to carry on out towards Eagle Bluffs. Meet at Cypress downhill ski parking lot at 9.00

HOLLYBURN MOUNTAIN. Time to burn off some of the Christmas dinner. A trip to the local mountains to either ski or snow shoe and perhaps visit the lodge after for a little refreshment. Call leader for time and place to meet.

SOCIAL 

NEW YEARS EVE POT LUCK DINNER 8:00pm onwards. Bring in the New Year in style with your Pathfinder friends. This is a popular late dinner evening. It’s your excuse to nap/siesta in the afternoon. Call your host, who will be BBQing a baron of beef, to reserve your place and advise of your dinner contribution.

DOG MOUNTAIN Start the New Year with a local trip on Mt. Seymour. For those of you who have never been on snow shoes before and would like to try then let us encourage you to join us on this easy trip. You can either rent snowshoes at Mt. Seymour or to save time at MEC. Some of us have an extra pair that you might be able to borrow. Contact the leader for time and place.

SUNDAY JANUARY 18
SNOWSHOE (NEW) 

MANNING PARK POLAND LAKE Sunday's trip to snowshoe above the Sea to Sky gondola has been postponed due to low snow conditions. Instead we are heading to Manning Park where hopefully we will ride the orange chair up the alpine slopes and then be able to walk into Poland Lake. It is a gradual walk down to the lake and then of course followed by a gradual walk back up, followed by walking down the side of the downhill area. Round trip is approx 12 km. There is a charge of $5 to ride the chair up.

WACKY TACKY PARTY. 7:30 pm This is the most popular social event of the year, an evening of hilarity and mirth. Come and give those face muscles some exercise as you laugh the night away. Recycle those tacky gifts you’ve been hanging onto, or received last year, dress them up elaborately to tempt and/or deceive your fellow club members. Pathfinders Nickel Plate Trip

We are planing a trip to Nickel Plate 
(Apex Mountain) driving up on Monday March 2nd (and stopping to ski or snowshoe at China Ridge, Princeton en route)  returning Friday March 6th. Apex Mountain resort has a variety of accommodation from hostels, hotel rooms to condos and at this time of year they offer a stay for 4 nights and pay for 3. You can choose to downhill ski at Apex or drive a few km to Nickel Plate and cross country ski or snowshoe. You will be responsible for booking your own accommodation depending on your budget. Let me know if you would like to join the party and I can help with accommodation suggestions (check out Apex Mountain accommodation) and let you know who else has decided to come”

Again (  for the 13th time ! ) we’ll head  for a fun and sport filled week to Sun Peaks, near Kamloops, in the week of Sunday, March 22 to Friday, March 27, 2015. You can tailor your participation to your needs from one day to six  days or longer , as you like.
