Please note that Pathfinders Events are open to members in good standing who have completed an application and release form. Guests accompanying a member do so at their own risk.




Car Pool Rates
Out of town, more than an hour away, $20.00. Local, less than one hour away, $10.00.

Pathfinders Guidelines for Participants
1) Phone the trip leader by the Friday before the trip. If you must cancel, do so in plenty of time.
2) Obtain information from the leader to determine if the trip is within your capabilities.
3) Make sure your boots, clothing and equipment are appropriate for the activity.
4) Stay with the group. Make sure the leader or end-person knows where you are at all times, even if you simply step off the trail to answer “nature’s call”

CYCLISTS – REMEMBER YOUR CYCLING PROTOCOL
The BC Provincial Motor Vehicle Act says:-
1)Wear a bicycle helmet of an approved standard.
2)Ride single file on busy roads or highways.
3)Don’t ride on sidewalks unless otherwise posted.
4)Obey crosswalks.
5)Use hand signals for turns, stopping or slowing down.
6)Ride on the right unless turning left or traveling through an intersection with the traffic, where you stay to the right in the through lane.The Pathfinders also say - Please carry tools and an extra bicycle tube!

SUNDAY DECEMBER 2
SNOWSHOE Hollyburn Mountain - We meet at the ticket office at
10am. Do not buy tickets, we do not need them. This is a fairly steep
climb to begin with, then it is up to the top of the mountain for lunch
and a superb view. With luck we can bum-ski down some of the way. About 4 hours round trip.

SUNDAY DECEMBER 9
SNOWSHOE Dog Mountain, Mount Seymour - We meet at 10am at the coffee shop at the top of the mountain, the lower coffee shop. Do not buy trail tickets, we do not need them. This is an easy snowshoe trip for all levels of competence, even if you have never snow shoed before. Lunch at the top and then down to the car park. About 3 hours round trip.

SUNDAY DECEMBER 16
SNOWSHOE Black Mountain, Cypress Bowl - Meet outside the downhill ticket office at 10am. Do not buy tickets, we do not need them. This is a long steep climb to the top of Black. If weather and time permits we can go on to Eagle Bluffs. Lunch at the top and then back to the car park. About 5 hours round trip.

SUNDAY DECEMBER 23
SNOWSHOE Diamond Head, Squamish - Meet at St. David's Church in West Vancouver and leave at 8.30am. We carpool from there. The road up to Diamond Head is steep and rugged. Park rangers insist on chains being carried. From the car park it is a steady climb up to the Red Heather Hut where we will have lunch. From there we go on up to St. Paul's Ridge for the view. Round trip about 10km and 5 hours.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31 - NEW YEAR`S EVE
POTLUCK - 7 P.M.
Let`s get together one last time in 2012 and say goodbye to the old year. We will toast the New Year at 9.00 p.m. together with our fellow Canadians in the east. That way we shall all get a relatively early night and be up bright and early to greet the New Year.Contact: To be advised




JANUARY 2013

SUNDAY JANUARY 6
SKI/SNOWSHOE Manning Park - We leave the Tim Horton's at the Whatcom Road exit on Highway #1 at 8.30am. From there we car pool to Manning. Good trails for skiing and also snowshoeing. This is ideal for every level of ability. Come and try it out. Trail tickets are $12 for skiing.

SUNDAY JANUARY 13
SKI/SNOWSHOE Callahan Valley, Whistler - Meet at St. David's Church in West Vancouver and leave at 8.30am. We carpool from there. Superb trails for skiing and snowshoeing for every level of ability. Come and try it, you will surely love it. Trail tickets are $22, snowshoe tickets are $14. If there are 10 or more of us in a group ( ski or snowshoe) we get a 15% reduction for a group rate.

SUNDAY JANUARY 20
SKI/SNOWSHOE Monument 78, Manning Park - We leave the Tim Horton's at the Whatcom Road exit on Highway #1 at 8.30am. From there we car pool to Manning Park. This is an easy snowshoe trip that is mostly flat. We do cross two bridges that are sometimes a challenge depending on the amount of snow. And we have to rely on the beavers not to have done too much damage to the trails! Beautiful trip through a gorgeous valley.
Round trip about 5 hours.

SUNDAY JANUARY 27
SNOWSHOE First Peak on Mount Seymour - We meet at 10am at the coffee shop at the top of the mountain, the lower coffee shop. Do not buy trail tickets, we do not need them. A steady climb for most of the way with superb views. Lunch at the top and then a fun run down. About 5 hours round trip.

FEBRUARY 2013

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 3
SKI/SNOWSHOE Portia section of the Kettle Valley on the Coquihalla - We leave Tim Horton's at the Whatcom Road exit on Highway #1 at 8.30am. From there we car pool. This is an easy snowshoe trip that is mostly flat. We travel on an old rail bed through a lovely valley that will give us frozen waterfalls and superb views. A great place to try snowshoeing. Round trip about 5 hours.

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 10
SNOWSHOE Burke Mountain - We meet at the Tim Horton's at Coast Mountain Highway and Highway 7 at 9.30am. Coffee drinkers can meet at 9.00am. From there we walk to the trailhead and snowshoe up to our lunch spot and then back down again. This is mostly easy terrain with a couple of slightly steeper parts. No excuse for not coming one and all. About 5 hours round trip.

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 15

Flamingo Restaurant- 6.30 P.M.
Our wonderful host at the Flamingo Chinese restaurant has once again agreed to provide a delicious ten course meal for the very reasonable cost of $22.00 per head including tax and tips. Drinks extra. We always enjoy the food and the ambience, so call in by February 10 to book your place.

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 17
SKI/SNOWSHOE Dakota Ridge, Sunshine Coast - Meet at St. David's Church in West Vancouver and leave at 8.30am. We carpool from there.
We catch the 9.20am Langdale Ferry to Gibson's and drive up to Dakota Ridge. This is a rugged back country road that requires chains and 4 wheel drive. Superb trails for skiing and snowshoeing for every level of ability. Come and try it, you will surely love it. Trail tickets are $12, snowshoe tickets are $6. (These are last year's rates)

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 24
Snowshoe Calcheak Loop near Whistler - Meet at St. David's Church in West Vancouver and leave at 8.30am. We carpool from there. A nice loop trail of about 9km with not much of an elevation gain. Good for everyone. So come out and join us on the snow.
