Please note that Pathfinders Events are open to members in good standing who have completed an application and release form. Guests accompanying a member do so at their own risk.




Car Pool Rates
Out of town, more than an hour away, $20.00. Local, less than one hour away, $10.00.

Pathfinders Guidelines for Participants
1) Phone the trip leader by the Friday before the trip. If you must cancel, do so in plenty of time.
2) Obtain information from the leader to determine if the trip is within your capabilities.
3) Make sure your boots, clothing and equipment are appropriate for the activity.
4) Stay with the group. Make sure the leader or end-person knows where you are at all times, even if you simply step off the trail to answer “nature’s call”

CYCLISTS – REMEMBER YOUR CYCLING PROTOCOL
The BC Provincial Motor Vehicle Act says:-
1)Wear a bicycle helmet of an approved standard.
2)Ride single file on busy roads or highways.
3)Don’t ride on sidewalks unless otherwise posted.
4)Obey crosswalks.
5)Use hand signals for turns, stopping or slowing down.
6)Ride on the right unless turning left or traveling through an intersection with the traffic, where you stay to the right in the through lane.
The Pathfinders also say - Please carry tools and an extra bicycle tube!

DECEMBER
WINTER CYCLING
No firm dates have been set, but when weather permits cyclists are encouraged to contact each other to plan an informal cycling event.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2
SOCIAL
THEATRE NIGHT - 7.30 PM 
Metro Theatre is showing what is described as `a delightful comedy` called My Three Angels. It is set in French Guiana at the turn of the century and is about the interaction between a family of French colonists and three prisoners who help them with the circumstances of their lives. Contact me by November 28. Tickets are $19.00 each for seniors.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 4
WALK
MINNEKHADA PARK (Coquitlam)
This is a walk around a local regional park followed by a visit to Minnekhada Lodge for hot chocolate in front of their log fire. Christmas decorations will help to get us into a festive mood. Round trip is 6.5 kms. Please phone leader for meeting place and time.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11

SNOWSHOE/SKI
DIAMOND HEAD, SQUAMISH
- We will leave St. David`s Church in West Vancouver at 8.30am and carpool from there. A nice steady climb up to the Red Heather hut where we will have lunch and then go on up to Paul Ridge for the view. It is a good idea to carry chains because this road can be pretty nasty if the Rangers do not plough it.

SNOWSHOE
HOLLYBURN MOUNTAIN
- We will meet at the ticket office at 9.30am.

Do not buy trail tickets, we do not need them. We will take the trail up the mountain with a steep climb to begin with, but it flattens out for a while and then gets steep again.

NEW YEAR`S EVE POT LUCK

It is time once again to celebrate the passing of the old year and welcome in the new. Bring your appetizers, salads, vegetables and desserts. Please let me know what you would like to bring so that we can arrange a superb three course meal. BYOB and prepare for a great evening with friends.

FIRST PUMP, MOUNT SEYMOUR
- We will meet at the lower coffee shop

at 9.30am. Do not buy trail tickets, we do not need them. This is a long and steady climb with a few small downs for a breather. Superb views on a clear day.

Get busy rummaging through those lovely things you put away so carefully because you couldn`t bear to look at them! Bring them out beautifully wrapped - someone is sure to love them. Bring your goodies and drinks for an evening of fun and laughter.

SKI/SNOWSHOE
WHISTLER NORDIC CENTRE
- Superb groomed and tracked trails for all levels of competence. There are some hills, but nothing too steep. Ski tickets are $22 each (plus taxes), but a book of 6 tickets is $20.83 each ticket (plus taxes), and a book of 10 is $17.60 each ticket (plus taxes). Snowshoe tickets are $15 each (plus taxes), but a book of 6 tickets is $13.50 each ticket (plus taxes), and a book of 10 is $12.30 each ticket (plus taxes). So the more the merrier, and cheaper. We will leave St. David’s Church at 8.30am and carpool from there.

BLACK MOUNTAIN
- We will meet at the downhill ticket office at 10am. Do not buy tickets, we do not need them. Very steep climb, but not too long. If conditions are right we will go on to Eagle Ridge.

Time for a return visit to the Flamingo Restaurant at 7510 Cambie Street. We paid $21.00 last year for a fantastic 9 course meal - I have to arrange the details at a later date but I think we shall be paying more or less the same for great food. I will confirm price by e-mail. Call me by January 22 to reserve.

SKI/SNOWSHOE
KETTLE VALLEY
- We will leave Tim Hortons at 8.30am on Whatcom Road on Highway No. 1 and we will carpool from there. It is an easy grade up and along an old railway track with stunning views and frozen waterfalls. We take the Portia exit on the Coquihalla Highway.

FEBRUARY
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 5
SKI/SNOWSHOE
CHEAKAMUS EAST SIDE
- We will leave St. Davids Church at 8.30am in West Vancouver and carpool from there to Function Junction near Whistler. This is an interesting trip along the Cheakmus River, up and over the ridge to Loggers Lake where we will have lunch and then wander back down again.

SKI/SNOWSHOE
DAKOTA RIDGE, SUNSHINE COAST
- We will leave St. Davids Church in West Vancouver at 8.15am. From there we will carpool to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal and catch the 9.20am ferry to Langdale. Only four wheel drive vehicles are allowed on the access road to the ski area. Superb snowshoeing on 8km of trails and glorious skiing on 13km of groomed and tracked trails. Ski trail tickets are $7.50 and snowshoe tickets are $3.50.

- We will leave St. Davids Church in West Vancouver at 8.30am and carpool from there. Good tracked skiing and very nice snowshoe trails suitable for everyone. Same ski and snowshoe rates apply as at the Whistler Nordic Centre (see January 15).

Join your friends for an evening of silliness as we all try to be really clever! You don`t have to be concerned about not being able to answer the questions - most of us can`t, but it`s fun to try. And we always have good laugh at the crazy answers we come up with. Great prizes to be won!! BYOB and goodies.

SKI/SNOWSHOE
STRAWBERRY FLATS, MANNING PARK -
We will leave Tim Hortons on Whatcom Road on Highway No. 1 at 8.30am and carpool from there. The financial situation at Manning is a bit iffy, but if all goes well for the Lodge, we will ski Strawberry Flats and the snowshoers can tackle Windy Joe.
