Car Pool Rates
Out of town, more than an hour away, $20.00. Local, less than one hour away, $10.00.

Pathfinders Guidelines for Participants
1) Phone the trip leader by the Friday before the trip. If you must cancel, do so in plenty of time.
2) Obtain information from the leader to determine if the trip is within your capabilities.
3) Make sure your boots, clothing and equipment are appropriate for the activity.
4) Stay with the group. Make sure the leader or end-person knows where you are at all times, even if you simply step off the trail to answer “nature’s call”

CYCLISTS – REMEMBER YOUR CYCLING PROTOCOL
The BC Provincial Motor Vehicle Act says:-
1)Wear a bicycle helmet of an approved standard.
2)Ride single file on busy roads or highways.
3)Don’t ride on sidewalks unless otherwise posted.
4)Obey crosswalks.
5)Use hand signals for turns, stopping or slowing down.
6)Ride on the right unless turning left or traveling through an intersection with the traffic, where you stay to the right in the through lane.
The Pathfinders also say - Please carry tools and an extra bicycle tube!

SUNDAY, MARCH 6 CYCLE BOUNDARY BAY – DELTA This flat 22 km cycle on paved roads and gravel dyke provides you with plenty of ocean and mountain views, tidal flats, lagoons and opportunities to spot shorebirds and waterfowl near lovely Centennial Beach. A bonus for this cycle is a visit to “the Secret Garden”. Meet at the Main Terminal Boundary Bay Airport parking lot that faces Churchill St at 10:00 a.m. Bring a lunch. Call by Friday evening for details.

SUNDAY, MARCH 6
SNOWSHOE DIAMOND HEAD - We leave St. David's Church in West Vancouver at 8.30am and carpool from there. It is a nice steady climb up to the Red Heather hut where we will have lunch and then on up to Paul Ridge for the view.

SOCIAL QUIZ NIGHT Time to challenge your brain and win fabulous prizes!!?? You don't have to be a genius to participate - most of us don't even get half the answers right, but we have fun trying! Bring your goodies and BYOB as usual.

SUNDAY, MARCH 13
SKI/SNOWSHOE CALLAHAN VALLEY - Groomed and tracked trails for all levels of competence. Some hills, but nothing too steep! Ski trail tickets are $20 ($16 if there are 10 or more of us), snowshoe tickets are $8. We'll leave St. David's Church in West Vancouver at 8.30am and carpool from there.

SUNDAY, MARCH 20 CYCLE RICHMOND LOOP – a perennial favorite - we will bike up Granville Ave. to the Shell Rd. Trail, down the trail to the dyke, past Finn Slough, London Farm and the Muakami Boat yard, and back into Steveston for fish and chips at Dave’s. Distance is approximately 30 km. Phone leaders for meeting time and place.

SNOWSHOE FAT DOG MOUNTAIN IN MANNING PARK - We'll leave Tim Horton's at 8.30am on Whatcom Road on Highway #1 and carpool from there. This is a fairly challenging climb of about 800m with a round trip of 14km.

FRIDAY, MARCH 25 - 8 P.M.
SOCIAL SCOTTISH CEILIDH We had fun last time we did something similar, so come and have another go! This time it is in town at the Scottish Cultural Centre at 8886 Hudson/73rd. It's much the same as before (basically barn dancing with a Scottish flavour) with a caller to guide you along. No partner needed. Cost is $9.00 each - tickets at the door. Call me by the Wednesday before if you want to go.

SNOWSHOE MOUNT ZOA ON THE COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY - We'll leave Tim Horton's at 8.30am on Whatcom Road on Highway #1 and carpool from there. This is a challenging climb of 850m with a round trip of about 18km. There are two long and steep sections on this trip, so make sure to check with Sandra of myself.

HIKE Lynn Canyon Loop – Sometimes called Lynn Creek and Forest Loop. It’s an easy hike, 9.5km, with minimal elevation gain. Time 3-4 hours. Meet at the parking area near the suspension bridge at 9.30am.

CYCLE LADNER TO DEAS ISLAND This 25 – 30 km (approximately) cycle starts in Ladner, goes under Hwy 99 to the other side of the freeway and on to Deas Island Park and some of the many trails there. Mainly off road but some short stretches on River Rd & Ferry Road. Bring a lunch. Call by Friday evening for details and confirmation.

HIKE MT. GARDNER – Moderate hike, elevation gain 500m; high point 720m; distance 10km from trailhead (3km further to the ferry); time 6 hours.

HIKE BADEN POWELL TRAIL (west) from Deep Cove to Lynn Canyon Distance: Deep Cove to Lynn Canyon 12 km, Elevation gain 405m, high point 425m, rated as an easy 5 hour hike. Meet at Deep Cove Parking Lot at 9.30am.

CYCLE GARRY POINT PARK TO McDONALD BEACH This approximately 30 km cycle takes us on a flat moderate cycle along the East Dyke Trail from Garry Point Park on the south arm of the Fraser to McDonald Beach. We will cycle through Burkeville residential streets and secondary Vancouver International Airport roads, where the traffic is generally low in volume. McDonald Beach Park is where we will have a picnic lunch. Meet at Garry Point parking lot, just west of the Old Cannery in Steveston at 10:00 a.m. Bring a lunch. SOCIAL CHINESE RESTAURANT We are going back to the Flamingo House on Cambie Street for another great meal. I have spoken to the manager and he has agreed to give us the same ten delicious dishes we had last year for an all-in price of $21.00 per head. ($1.00 more this year for the HST). Get your booking in by May 6. We will be away until May 4 so will not be around to take calls, so Alan Toon is the one to call. (We shall definitely be at the dinner put us down Alan!) Don't forget - call before May 6.

HIKE Othello Tunnels Hope-Nicola Valley Trail. - Rated as easy, elevation gain 200m, distance about 8km (depending on start point. An historic trail through the Othello Tunnels. Great views of the rivers and mountains. Lots of spring flowers. Meet at Tim Hortons at Whatcom Road at 9.00am.

SOCIAL ANNUAL PICNIC Spring is here again and it's time to exercise in the morning and eat and socialize in the afternoon. Location is the same as before - Deas Island Park. Club will supply food as usual, we’ll be asking for volunteers to help put the barbecue together. Call by May 22 so that we know how many to cater for.

CYCLE DEAS ISLAND PARK TO BOUNDARY BAY This cycle trip on paved secondary roads, with generally light traffic, leaves Deas Island, encircles Burns Bog, passes through a tunnel under Highway 99 and ends along the beautiful Boundary Bay Dyke. Meet 10:00 a.m. at the Deas Island Picnic Site (west end). Leader: Maureen Kinney 604-263-4579
